Teachers of the Methodist Agogic Centre (MAC) Browlia F. Milliard Campus came to school dressed as students for a relief fundraiser for victims of the August 14 earthquake in Haiti. The fundraiser invited students to dress up to school and contribute $2 as a donation. Since the students dressed up, several teachers decided to do the same but instead as students.  They came to school in their plaid skirts, blue uniform shirts with some rocking puffs and pigtails.

Nusza Ruan, a MAC alumna, and current teacher, said the students did double-takes in the morning when they first came in. “They loved it. They got to mention all the infractions with our uniforms like puffs or white socks.” Ruan said, hopefully, the dress-up won’t be limited to this one time. The students expressed their desire to see the teachers do it again. Other teachers also want to join in. After the break, the teachers played games on the playground like hopscotch, and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ruan also added that they have more fun planned. She stated they are trying to make learning fun again and not limited to academics. Their goal is to get students more engaged with a hands-on approach. In particular, the students are busy with creating posters to display around the school and reaping crops grown in their greenhouse. The greenhouse was donated last school year by the Red Cross.
